Creative and artistic

Some of the characters I capture really stick with me. I’ll see them again and again as I scan my images. Certain people just stand out in a crowd, these two are an example of that. Maybe it was the kindness of the moment, the shared smile, the recognition of fellow creatives. Photography has helped me to realize that the world is split right down the middle. There will always be someone who disagrees with you no matter what side you’re on. Behind the camera I see the division. The kind souls are the minority, the troubled are the majority. For every smile I get ten glares, but the smiles are remembered longer, they warm me up. It’s easy to forget to smile in a world full of frowning faces. Maybe if I remembered to smile I’d get more smiles in return.

I’m no expert on any of this, and my ideas are all based on the images that occupy my hard drives, a number that just surpassed the 100,000 mark. Obviously these are not all keepers, but they do provide an interesting visual representation of the people I come across in my day to day life, and that’s good enough for me. I just want to remember my experiences for as long as possible.
