Denver Pridefest 2013

More misadventures in film photography. I snapped this one off during Denver’s annual Pride Fest. This roll of film was left in the pocket of my pants during a wash and dry cycle. So if you were wondering, this is what happens when you wash your film on accident.

I know that my support of equal rights in this matter does not make me popular amongst my more conservative group of friends, but I hope that you could respect my opinion the same way that I respect yours. I believe that all human beings should be considered equal. In my mind there is only one race, the human race, and I don’t believe we should judge anyone for their sexual preference, the color of their skin, or the religion they choose.

I’ll never understand why some people cannot just live and let live.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Companionable

I’m new to the weekly photo challenge, but any excuse to share images is cool with me. I suppose my companion would be my daughter Penelope. When she was born I quit my $50,000 a year job for the Federal Government to raise her while her mom brought home the bacon. It has been the most wonderful experience I could have ever imagined. It isn’t always easy, but it is most definitely rewarding.

Watching a human being grow up in front of your eyes, watching them learn and discover all the amazing and beautiful things around them, it is truly marvelous. This shot was taken at Bighorn Sheep Canyon campground, where myself and the rest of my companions love to be: Out in the world, traveling and exploring.

Misadventures in Film Photography

I’ve learned everything I know about film photography through google searches and photography text books. I’ve been experimenting shooting with film as of late. It has been a disappointment for the most part. I love the feeling of shooting analog, but I am clumsy with changing and loading film into my cameras. I turned in 7 rolls and 4 of them were blanks, which I am pretty sure is because I had a hard time figuring out how to rewind my film in the camera before opening the back of it. I think my next project with film will be better, as I think I have all the kinks in my flow worked out.

This was shot with a Leica C2 Zoom camera I found on eBay. I thought I would give it a whirl and see what I came up with. Major light leak, and some scratches are showing up on the developed film.

The lessons I have learned so far are that shooting film isn’t cheap, and I have a lot left to learn. It’s about time to explore developing my own film, which is something I have been wanting to learn anyway.
